Enterprise-Grade IT Passive Cabling Deployment Across Multi-City Engineering Campuses
Airbus India Pvt. Ltd. operates some of the country’s most advanced engineering and digital innovation centres across Delhi, Gurgaon, and Bangalore. These facilities support high-density compute workloads, real-time design environments, and continuous collaboration across global Airbus teams. To sustain future expansion and eliminate performance inconsistencies, Airbus required a next-generation IT passive cabling ecosystem engineered for scalability, low latency, and flawless operational continuity.
Orchids Network & Systems (I) Pvt. Ltd. was selected to modernize the passive network infrastructure across all three locations with a unified, globally compliant, enterprise-grade structured cabling framework.
Project Objective
The project focused on creating a high-bandwidth, interference-resistant and future-ready cabling infrastructure capable of supporting aircraft design simulations, massive data transfers, virtual testing environments, cloud-native collaboration platforms, and secure R&D workflows. The system had to maintain predictable performance under engineering-level workloads while meeting Airbus’ strict global IT and security compliance requirements.
Solution Delivered by Orchids Network & Systems
Comprehensive Structured Cabling Architecture
Orchids engineered a standardized, site-wide structured cabling blueprint that ensured consistent performance across all Airbus India campuses. The deployment included CAT6A shielded copper cabling for workstation connectivity, optimized for EMI-prone engineering environments. A combination of single-mode and multi-mode fiber backbone links interconnected data rooms and core switches, providing high throughput and minimal signal degradation.
All pathways were designed to maintain controlled bend radii, certified containment, and zero-loss routing. High-density racks with universal labelling and cable management systems ensured uniformity, ease of expansion, and simplified troubleshooting across locations.
Optimized Data Center and Communication Room Cabling
To sustain low-latency access required for simulation workloads, Orchids performed high-precision fiber fusion splicing achieving exceptionally low splice loss. All copper and fiber links were tested and certified in accordance with ISO/IEC 11801 and TIA/EIA-568 standards. Cabling pathways were planned with full awareness of cooling dynamics, ensuring airflow integrity for hot-aisle and cold-aisle configurations. Enhanced grounding and bonding systems were integrated to meet aviation-grade electrical safety norms.
Multi-Location Execution Without Operational Disruption
Airbus required uninterrupted operations throughout the upgrade. Orchids executed the project through shift-based implementation during off-business hours and weekends. A centralized Project Management Office coordinated parallel execution streams across Delhi, Gurgaon, and Bangalore, ensuring synchronized progress and adherence to internal Airbus IT governance processes. Real-time digital dashboards allowed Airbus teams to track milestones, documentation, and change logs throughout the deployment.
Security and Compliance Integration
Given the sensitivity of aviation R&D, the cabling infrastructure was designed with strict adherence to Airbus’ internal audit frameworks and international security guidelines. Tamper-proof enclosures, segregated cabling for secure and open networks, controlled access to network pathways, and redundant backbone planning ensured reliable and compliant data transport across all engineering zones.
Outcome and Measurable Impact
The upgraded passive network delivered a measurable 40 percent improvement in data throughput due to optimized fiber topologies and CAT6A shielded installations. Latency across campus networks was significantly reduced, enabling real-time collaboration for simulation and design engineering. Redundant backbone paths and certified installations achieved 99.99 percent infrastructure uptime, supporting uninterrupted production and research workloads.
The infrastructure is now fully prepared for 10G, 40G, and 100G network upgrades, additional engineering clusters, and rapid workstation expansions. Airbus also benefits from fully standardized cabling documentation, rack elevations, and compliance reports, simplifying audits and long-term infrastructure governance.
Why Airbus Selected Orchids
Airbus chose Orchids for its deep technical experience in mission-critical structured cabling, its ability to execute multi-city deployments without operational downtime, and its adherence to global cabling, safety, and compliance standards. Transparent project governance, strong documentation processes, and predictable delivery timelines reinforced its position as a trusted infrastructure partner.
