High-Reliability IT Passive Cabling and Network Hardware Infrastructure for Mission-Critical Operations in Bangalore
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), India’s premier space agency, operates multiple research, engineering, computation, and mission support facilities across Bangalore. These environments support satellite data processing, propulsion research, communication system development, real-time simulation platforms, launch preparation activities, and highly sensitive mission operations.
Such mission-critical systems require an exceptionally reliable, interference-resistant, and secure IT backbone capable of sustaining continuous operations without interruption. To achieve this, ISRO required a precision-engineered passive cabling ecosystem along with enterprise-grade switching and wireless infrastructure designed for scientific, engineering, and mission-support workloads.
Orchids Network & Systems (I) Pvt. Ltd. was selected to deploy a secure, high-availability network foundation meeting ISRO’s stringent performance and operational standards.
Project Objective
The objective was to build a robust IT passive cabling infrastructure and deploy mission-ready network hardware capable of supporting ISRO’s research, simulation, telemetry processing, scientific computation, and administrative workflows. The network backbone needed to support low-latency data transport, high throughput, stable wireless coverage, and complete compliance with ISRO’s stringent internal security and documentation standards.
The system also required scalability to accommodate evolving mission requirements, new research programs, and upcoming technological expansions.
Solution Delivered by Orchids Network & Systems
High-Precision Structured Cabling Architecture
Orchids deployed a CAT6A shielded passive cabling system optimized for ISRO’s highly sensitive environments, where electromagnetic interference from scientific instruments, testing equipment, and high-density compute clusters is significant.
Shielded cabling ensured accuracy, signal integrity, and stable performance across research labs, data centers, mission-support zones, communication rooms, and administrative blocks.
A fiber backbone interlinked control rooms, server environments, computational facilities, and engineering labs. This backbone provided ultra-stable bandwidth essential for data-intensive research activities including telemetry analysis, satellite imagery processing, communication testing, and simulation workloads.
All routing pathways were engineered using RCDD-certified design principles with strict adherence to TIA, ISO, and ISRO’s internal technical specifications.
Deployment of Enterprise Network Hardware (Switches and Access Points)
Orchids implemented a high-performance switching ecosystem configured for secure, segmented, and high-bandwidth operations. The deployment included core, distribution, and access layer switches designed to support mission-critical communication flows and large-scale data transactions.
Access points were installed and calibrated to deliver stable, reliable wireless coverage across operational floors, engineering labs, and collaborative areas while ensuring strict network segmentation and security compliance.
Network configurations included VLAN isolation, QoS policies for mission-critical traffic, device authentication mechanisms, and redundancy paths to maintain uninterrupted connectivity.
Zero-Disruption Deployment in Sensitive Research Environments
ISRO’s operations cannot experience downtime due to the critical nature of its research and mission timelines. Orchids executed the installation through a tightly controlled deployment strategy that ensured absolute non-interference with ongoing scientific and operational activities.
Work was performed during designated windows approved by ISRO authorities, following safety protocols, restricted-access guidelines, and documentation control procedures.
Every stage of the deployment followed strict change-management protocols aligned with ISRO’s internal governance structure.
Audit, Compliance, and Documentation Standards
ISRO requires complete traceability of every network change. Orchids provided comprehensive documentation including:
- Cabling route maps
- Patch panel and rack layouts
- Fiber and copper certification reports
- Switch configuration files
- Access point placement maps
- Network diagrams
This ensured complete audit-readiness, internal verification capability, and long-term maintainability of the infrastructure.
Outcome and Measurable Impact
ISRO’s Bangalore facilities now operate on a mission-grade IT passive cabling and network hardware backbone engineered for scientific and computational rigor.
Data transmission stability increased significantly due to optimized shielding and a high-quality fiber backbone. Latency between research zones, computation clusters, and control rooms was reduced, enabling faster data processing and accelerated research outcomes.
Network reliability and wireless performance improved substantially, supporting smoother collaboration between scientists, researchers, engineers, and mission teams. The infrastructure is fully ready to support expanding research programs, increased data loads, advanced simulation facilities, and future mission operations.
Why ISRO Partnered with Orchids Network & Systems
ISRO selected Orchids for its proven capability in deploying precision-engineered network infrastructure in sensitive, high-security, and research-driven environments. Orchids demonstrated strict compliance discipline, deep technical competence, secure engineering practices, and the ability to deliver a mission-ready digital foundation without disturbing active operations.
